The family of a pedestrian who was found dead by the side of a road around a mile away from where he was hit by a lorry have said they are "positively touched" by all the messages of condolence.
Douglas Macarthur, 59, was struck by an HGV in Oban's George Street a short time before his body was discovered on the A85 near Pennyfuir, Argyll and Bute, at around 1.55am on Thursday.
Mr Macarthur, from Oban, was commonly known as Doc.
In a statement released through Police Scotland, Mr Macarthur's family said: "The family is positively touched by all the messages of condolences and personal tributes to their much-loved brother and uncle.
"Doc was obviously held in high regard throughout the local community and beyond, who are united in grief."

Inspector Roy McCarney, from Dumbarton Road Policing Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with Douglas' family and friends at this difficult time. Officers continue to offer support as our investigations progress.
"Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances. I'd ask anyone with information, who has not already spoken to police, to please come forward."
