The body of a mum-of-four who had been reported missing has been found in a car.

Police launched a search for grandmother Angela Keenan, 58, after she disappeared from Lenzie in East Dunbartonshire last Tuesday.

Her daughter Erin McGowan had told Sky News Ms Keenan was an "amazing mum" and the family were "desperate to find her and get her home".

In an update on Monday, Police Scotland confirmed the body of a woman was found in a car in the Parkhead area of Glasgow at around 3.20pm on Sunday.

A force spokesperson said: "She has been formally identified as 58-year-old Angela Keenan who was missing from Lenzie.

"There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

Sharing the news on Facebook, Ms McGowan said Ms Keenan's family were "absolutely devastated".

She added: "But thank you to everyone who continually shared my post, came out to search and sent messages."
