Four people have died on Scotland's roads following two separate motorbike crashes on Sunday.

Emergency services were first called to the A6088 in the Scottish Borders in response to a collision involving a Suzuki GSXR and Kawasaki ZX1400 at around 2.30pm.

A 37-year-old man, 29-year-old man and 23-year-old woman died at the scene.

Sergeant Barry Sommerville said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the three people who died.

"Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who can help to get in touch."

At around 2.45pm, a separate crash involving a white Ducati motorcycle occurred in Argyll and Bute.

The collision took place on the A83 at the Kilmory Roundabout in Lochgilphead.

A 29-year-old woman, who was riding alongside three other bikers, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant Archie McGuire said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died at this difficult time."

Following both incidents, the roads were closed for around seven hours for investigation works.

Sergeant Sommerville and Sergeant McGuire are urging all those with information - or relevant dashcam footage - to contact Police Scotland.
