The family of a woman who died after being found unconscious with a head injury while out walking her dog have insisted someone "must know something".

Anita Rose, 57, was found unconscious by a member of the public lying on a track road in Brantham, Suffolk, last Wednesday and was taken to hospital with a serious head injury, where she later died.

Here's everything we know about the incident so far:

The incident

Police say Ms Rose left her house at around 5am last Wednesday to take her springer spaniel - Bruce - for a walk.

She was found by a member of the public lying on a track road near the sewage works and railway line in Rectory Lane, Brantham, at around 6.25am, and an ambulance was called. Ms Rose's dog was found unharmed.

The mother-of-six was later taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, and Suffolk Police were called by the East of England Ambulance Service shortly after 8am.

Suffolk Constabulary released their first statement about the incident last Wednesday afternoon, saying they were treating it as an attempted murder.

Officers said they had been "working hard" to establish the circumstances surrounding her injuries and death and had progressed a "large number of inquiries".

Tracing a pink jacket and mobile phone - the investigation early on

Last Friday, after carrying out forensic work, searches, house-to-house enquiries, and CCTV analysis, police released images of Ms Rose, taken on the morning of the incident from a doorbell camera.

At this point, no arrests had been made.

They released the images as part of an appeal to the public to trace her iPhone and a pink zip-up jacket, which police believe she was wearing immediately prior to the incident.

They said the two items "could hold key information or evidence".

Two arrested

A 45-year-old man from the Ipswich area was arrested last Saturday afternoon on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 37-year-old woman from the Ipswich area was also arrested on Saturday on suspicion of handling stolen goods in connection with the incident.

Ms Rose died in hospital on Sunday. Police then re-arrested the 45-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

Both have been released on police bail until 25 October.

'Remain vigilant'

In an update on Sunday, police said officers had found the iPhone but the jacket, described as waterproof and believed to be from an outdoor clothing brand - possibly Regatta - was still missing.

They are continuing to appeal for information as they attempt to trace the jacket.

Officers have also released a map of the route Ms Rose took.

They are still conducting house-to-house enquiries, searching the scene where Ms Rose was found, and scouring CCTV.

"If people are concerned about going out for a walk, I would advise them to remain vigilant," said Detective Superintendent Mike Brown from Suffolk Police's major investigation team.

"Tell someone where you are going, what time you expect to be back, and let them know when you are home."

He added: "We recognise that many people will feel concerned, but I can reassure you that we are working hard to identify what has taken place and that this investigation is a priority for the constabulary."

Investigators are planning to do an "anniversary check in the Rectory Lane area" on Wednesday, 31 July - a week on from when she was found.

What her family have said

After she was found unconscious, Ms Rose's family released this statement via the police, in which they said: "Mum is a local woman who walked her beloved dog every day.

"As a family we are devastated and thank the public and media for their support so far. If anyone has any information, please come forward and speak to the police."

In a statement released on Monday, following her death in hospital, Ms Rose's family said: "Our mum was well known and loved in the community.

"She was brutally taken from us devastatingly too early, and we have been robbed of so much time with her.

"She wasn't just a mum of six, she was also a grandma to 13, a long-term partner, a mother-in-law and a special friend to so many.

"Someone somewhere must know something, and we urge them to come forward. We want to thank everyone for their love and support.

"All we ask is for everyone to cherish their time with their family and loved ones."

Police have said the family is being supported by specially trained officers working on the investigation.
