A manhunt has been launched for a "despicable" attacker after a young woman was grabbed and sexually assaulted while walking home from a night out in Dundee.

The 17-year-old victim was approached by three men on Dens Road, near to its junction with Laing Street, at around 3.10am on Sunday.

The alarm was raised after the teenager returned home.

Detective Inspector Graeme Wishart said: "This was an incredibly distressing incident for the victim and it is vital that we trace the despicable person responsible.

"Extensive enquiries are under way to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and we are appealing for anyone who may have information (that could) assist our investigation to please come forward."
