A man has been charged with kidnapping and attacking an 87-year-old pensioner.

Shohad Miah has been charged after an incident in Oldham, Greater Manchester, on 15 September in which an elderly man was forced into a car, attacked, and thrown out on to a road in West Yorkshire, miles from his home, in the dark.

It comes after two people were arrested during the police investigation into the attack.

Miah, from Royton, Oldham, has been charged with kidnap, Section 18 GBH, robbery, and intentional strangulation and will appear in court at Tameside Magistrates Court on 24 September.
