A man has been charged by police following complaints a school bus driver was watching pornography while picking up pupils.

Police Scotland said it received a report of "inappropriate behaviour" in the Denholm area of the Scottish Borders on Friday 20 September.

The force launched a probe to establish any criminality and has now made an arrest.

On Thursday, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 54-year-old man has been arrested and charged. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

It is understood the bus was on its way to Jedburgh Grammar Campus.

A Scottish Borders Council spokesperson said: "The council alerted Police Scotland promptly following concerns being raised with school staff by a small number of pupils and we note that an individual has now been charged.

"As the allegations relate to the conduct of an individual there is no plan to review the operator's contract at this time.

"Any further comment at this time is not appropriate."
